I don't usually keep a calendar in my kitchen but I could definitely make room for this one.

I am in the market for a 2009 calendar. Usually I end up getting one for Christmas (2008 was Eugene Grasset calendar with each month being a different decorative art nouveau style pattern - good pick dad) but not this year, which is fine by me because now I have free reign of what to choose. Here are some of my favorite picks I found while browsing etsy.

My work at Macy's!

I was really surprised yesterday to go into Macy's in Nashua, NH and see these juice glasses that I had worked on over the summer. I had freelanced at Macy's right after graduation working on print and pattern for their in-house tabletop department. I was under the impression that they were not going to hit stores until next summer so it really took me by surprise to see something I had helped design on the floor being sold! Unfortunately these juice glasses seemed to be the only items that they had in stock with the pattern and they do not seem to be on the Macy's website either! I even asked an employee where the rest of the set was and they said that they had only received one box with just juice glasses (which is funny because I had only worked on the glasses for this particular set) I called my dad and of course he wanted me to buy a bunch. Has anyone seen these around their local Macy's?

Hello from NH!

I am spending Christmas in NH and was greeted with not one storm, but two! It took me 9 hours to get from NY to Boston on Friday (usually a 4 - 5 hour bus ride) and all of our family plans have been cancelled for the weekend. I am snowed in until further notice. I made it out yesterday to take a trip to the doctors (feeling even worse!), and grabbed a pair of snow boots which were the last pair in my size at DSW. I plan on spending the rest of the day sitting around in my pj's with a cup of tea and tissues in my hand, and later on decorating the tree with the family

I went this weekend to see the Chanel Zaha Hadid Mobile Art Container to see what all of fuss was about with my good frined Mino. Thankfully I had reserved two tickets way back in September so we got to walk right into the exhibit and bypass the line where I heard people waited hours in for stand by tickets. I did enjoy it and it had some really wonderful moments such as "The Sidewalk" by Leandro Erlich of Argentina which was a piece that showed the reflection of a cityscape in puddles on the street. After I took off my headset offall I could think of was that it made me wanting something a bit more

My birthday is this coming Wednesday so I did some pre-birthday shopping yesterday in hopes of finding a new dress to wear to my birthday dinner. I popped into one of my favorite stores Zachary's Smileand tried on a bunch of dresses way out of my price range. The only time that I have been able to shop there is during their basement sale, which is seems as though they seemed to have skipped over this year? Correct me if I am wrong. Which is a shame because I love their clothes but don't have the $$ to drop on them at full price. Sadly I returned back to Brooklyn without a birthday dress but with some much needed new black flats so all was not lost.

If you happen to pick up the latest issue of Surface magazine I am drooling over the Matt and Nat bag on page 35, but for some reason it is nowhere to be found on their website. :( I love the above one also but the handles are much too short and I am on of those people who need a sturdy over the shoulder bag.

Don't forget about me!

Hello it is me! I am still around! I have been adjusting to working full time now and it seemed as though blogging and working on my own designs took a seat on the back burner for the time being. But no more! I am excited to get back into my own work and I am hoping to try to do a craft fair or two this winter. I have a gigantic bag full of pillows just waiting for covers to be made and I am hoping to explore some other ideas that I haven't quite fleshed out yet.

Beckerman

I meant to post this with my post yesterday but I was ridiculously tired and went to sleep instead! I thrifted the shirt below completely new and was intrigued by the tags since they were so bring and bod. I had never heard of the designer so with a little help from google I discovered Beckerman A design team made up of three sisters all who attended FIT and studied different areas of fashion/textile design and later went on to producing their own line together combining each of the sisters own style and expertise! Here are a few of my favorite looks from their Spring 08 collection, which is my favorite.

Rachel Comey at Fashion Week

Rachel Comey's RTW Spring 2009 collection really popped out at me, probably because I could actually see myself wearing a lot of it. Perhaps because it combines a bunch of my favorite things 1) combinations of bring blue and chartreuse 2) fun prints layered on top of each other and 3) cinched waists

Color IQ + New Job!

I got a 10, phew! Which is good considering my profession!

I started a new job last week, hence my disappearing. I am working at Clinique designing packaging for their gift with purchase. Best of both worlds, 3d design and patterns! I am very happy and excited with seeing this new chapter of my life will bring me! Wish me luck!

Virginia Johnson

While at Barney's today I came across some of Virginia Johnson's new shawls. I am a big fan of her work so I came home and checked out her website again to see what else was new. I really love her Fall 08 lookbook. It is really inspiring.

I had lunch at Barney's today with my new bosses. I start my new job on Tuesday! Very excited! I wore:

The highlight of my day was coming home on the F and guess who sat down next to me?!

Back from NH

I got back from New Hampshire yesterday. I feel like whenever I have been going back I always do the same things. This photo basically sums up how I spent my Sunday. Two words. FLEA MARKET



This flea market is out of control and I am sorry but the flea markets here in NYC don't stand a chance in comparison to the ones in NH. I came out after three hours and only spending $6 and came out with a vintage silk scarf, two linen table clothes, a few yards of really fun vintage fabric, the cutest painting that I am putting in my kitchen tomorrow, 6 cloth napkins with a great bamboo print in chartreuse (one of my favorite colors!) and a full bottle of avon perfume in a peacock shaped bottle! RIDICULOUS!!




Besides the flea market I made sure to stop at the local farms/ice cream stands and stock up on some fresh veggies that I made myself and my dad dinner with, cider donuts, and homemade pumpkin ice cream. yummmmy

I have been on the lookout for a new purse for a while now since I have loved mine so much that the straps are starting to fray. I am a one purse kind of girl (ok ok I recently bought a lesportsac bag too for more casual summer occasions, who wants to bring a leather purse to the beach? and besides who can resist their patterns?!) but usually it is just me and my trusty black leather purse. I stumbled upon this Calvin Klein one at Macy's and it is the perfect simple shape and size that I have been looking for. I think I may be purchasing it soon as a gift to myself in celebration of my new job!

I never posted about my trade at Renegade with Alita aka Charm School Design I traded one of my pillows for this lovely necklace which I adore. It is a great conversation piece!
